Andrew WarrenDirector of ACE, Andrew Warren

Andrew Warren has been Director of the Association for the Conservation of Energy since its foundation in 1981.

He was a former Special Advisor to House of Commons Select Committee on the Environment and has given evidence to many House of Commons and House of Lords Select Committees in the UK and also to inquiries undertaken by the European Parliament. He has spoken at a several hearings called by the European Commission and has spoken in every Member State of the European Union (EU-15) at a variety of conferences on energy and environment issues.

In addition to writing regular monthly columns for several trade publications, he has also contributed articles to many international newspapers such as the Financial Times, The Guardian and The Independent.

Jenny HollandParliamentary Coordinator, Jenny Holland

Jenny joined the ACE Campaigns Team in July 2001. She is ACE's Parliamentary Co-ordinator.

A Cambridge law graduate and qualified solicitor, Jenny has worked in the political arena for a number of years - as Political Organiser to an MEP, as Press Officer to Essex County Labour Group and, immediately prior to joining ACE, as Political Assistant to David Chaytor, the MP for Bury North.

Whilst working in Parliament, Jenny was Chair of the TGWU Parliamentary Branch and led the union's successful campaign for improved pay and conditions for MPs' staff. She also has extensive experience of running election and community campaigns.

Away from ACE, Jenny is an Essex County Councillor and a member of the East of England Environment Panel.

Pedro GuertlerImage

Pedro joined ACE in 2003. He was born in Teheran, grew up in London, Portugal and Germany, returning to London to study. He read for a degree in Environmental Policy with Economics at the London School of Economics and has an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London. Since joining ACE, he has been promoted to Head of Research - in addition to carrying out research - he manages all aspects of the Team's work including its strategy and direction, budget, recruitment and so on. He is a member of the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes' Fuel Poverty Strategy Group and the Islington Climate Change Fund's advisory panel.

Parliamentary Consultant E-mail

Ron Bailey acts as Political Campaign Consultant to the Association. He has a 30-year record of organising Parliamentary and community campaigns across a broad range of issues. He has been instrumental in getting a number of Acts of Parliament on to the statute book, such as the Home Energy Conservation Act, Warm Homes and Energy Conservation Act and the Road Traffic Reduction Act. He is also the parliamentary adviser to the Micropower Council, the All Party Warm Homes Group and is currently campaigning for the Sustainable Communities Bill and the Food Justice Bill. Prior to becoming a political campaigner, he was involved in direct action politics such as the initiation of the current squatting movement in 1968. 

 
Senior Press and Parliamentary Officer (Scotland) E-mail

Chas first joined ACE as its Parliamentary Officer in Scotland in October 2005, and was promoted to full-time Senior Press and Parliamentary Officer in November 2008. He is responsible for ACE's policy and media work in Scotland, working closely with the Scottish Government and Parliament. He has been a member of the Scottish Government's Fuel Poverty Forum since 2005, and is a regular contributor to the energy policy debate in Scotland.

Previously Chas worked as Parliamentary Officer for Friends of the Earth Scotland, lobbying and researching on a wide range of issues from energy efficiency and planning to transport. Earlier employment includes spells in both the Scottish and European parliaments and teaching English in Bosnia and Bavaria. He is a member of the national ruling council of the Scottish Green Party, a keen touring cyclist and lives in Leith with his wife, Clare.

Darryl Croft Image

Darryl has been at ACE since October 2007, becoming Senior Researcher in February 2009.

Since joining ACE, Darryl has worked extensively on the T-ZERO and Improvement Prophet projects, presenting at numerous events.

He graduated with First Class honours from Edinburgh in Environmental Geoscience in 2005, where he also worked as a Publicity Officer at Edinburgh Global Partnerships, engaging with stakeholders involved in community-led development projects in Africa.  Later, at the Scottish Executive’s environment statistics branch, Darryl coordinated the simultaneous updating of interconnected datasets and related stats publications, as well as carrying out the statistical analysis for the Scottish Climate Change Programme.  He holds an MSc in Environmental Technology, specialising in Energy Policy, from Imperial College London.

Mary HelenaImage

Mary Helena is Andrew Warren’s PA, and ACE’s Office Manager.

Mary graduated from the University of Kent (English and American Literature) in 1979. She worked at the Economists’ Bookshop at the LSE for nearly a decade and subsequently spent many years working in administrative roles in the voluntary sector, mainly in overseas development organisations working in the areas of health and education. More recently she has worked as Office Manager at the Women’s Environmental Network.

Louise Sunderland Image

Louise joined ACE as a researcher in December 2008 having completed an MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London. Having researched a thesis on drivers and barriers to improving the sustainability of the existing housing stock, Louise’s main interests lie in behaviour change and the non-economic drivers for the retrofit of homes.

Prior to completing the MSc Louise worked in international development for Action Aid International, specialising in monitoring and evaluation, and assessment of participatory processes. She also has experience of community development on local scale having worked for Horsham District Council in a rural community development role.

Lotte BlairImage

Lotte graduated from Cambridge University in 2008 having studied Natural Sciences. It was during her time there that she first developed a keen interest in climate change and environmental activism. Upon returning to London after university she became an active member of local campaigning groups. She gained further campaigning experience from a summer internship at Friends of the Earth where she worked on the successful Big Ask campaign lobbying MPs for a stronger Climate Change Bill.

Lotte joined the Parliamentary Team in October 2009 after finishing an MSc at Imperial College in Environmental Technology.

Tanya KennyImage

Tanya joined ACE in December 2008 and currently works part-time with the Parliamentary team, where she has been mainly involved with the Sectoral Targets Bill.  She completed an MA in Globalisation, Development & Transition at the University of Westminster in 2004, where her thesis focussed on the issue of climate change and the sovereignty of the nation state.  Following this, Tanya worked at Friends of the Earth and then at Local Works where she was one of the campaigners for the Sustainable Communities Bill. Prior to this Tanya taught English for several years in Bangkok, Portugal and also back in London.

Jack CarringtonImage

Jack joined ACE as a research assistant following a two month internship. After graduating from Oxford University in 2005 with a BA in Physics he worked in the Actuarial profession, but at the start of 2009 decided to change career and became involved in the Sustainable Communities Act Campaign at Unlock Democracy. He has a keen interest in financial modeling developed from his work in the actuarial profession valuing pension schemes and hopes to apply this to the problem of reducing carbon emissions.
