ACE’s response to the Domestic Private Rented Sector minimum level of energy efficiency consultation
Our response to the Government’s Domestic Private Rented Sector minimum level of energy efficiency consultation can be read here. Further details about the consultation and its impact assessment can be found here.
ACE welcomed the commitment in the Clean Growth Strategy for the Government to make the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) regulations more effective, however we have a number of serious concerns regarding the policy proposals outlined in this consultation. We believe that the proposals are too focused on the interests of landlords and that there should be greater focus on reducing the number or households living in substandard conditions. If the government is serious about meeting its own carbon reduction and fuel poverty targets then greater ambition is required.
